International Merchandise Trade Statistics

Welcome to the 2016 National Compilation and Dissemination Practices (NCDP) survey!

The NCDP survey is conducted on a decennial basis by the Inter-Agency Task Force on International Trade Statistics (TFITS) in order to collect up-to-date information on national compilation and dissemination practices and compliance with the recommendations contained in IMTS 2010 and the compilation guidance contained in Compilers Manual to IMTS, Rev.1.

Your country’s responses, and all country responses, will be made publicly available on the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) website. Responses to the previous NCDP survey conducted in 2006 are available on the UN website.

This portal allows your office to respond to the survey electronically. You can use the unique log-in credentials provided to your office via e-mail to access the survey at any time and save your progress, by clicking the blue “Save” button in the upper right corner of the following screen. To save you time, the survey has been pre-filled with your responses from the last survey conducted in 2006 that are still applicable. Please review these pre-filled responses to see if they are still correct and update your responses as needed.

To facilitate your completion of the survey, all of the questions have been marked as follows:
  • Unchanged: indicates that the question is unchanged from the 2006 survey. These responses have been pre-filled. Please review these pre-filled responses to see if they are still correct and update your responses as needed.
  • Modified: indicates that the question has been slightly modified or updated from the 2006 survey, based on updated recommendations from IMTS 2010 and have not been pre-filled and requires your review and response.
  • New: indicates an entirely new question based on a new or updated recommendation from IMTS 2010 and requires your review and response.

Many questions require a “Yes”, “No,” or “Not applicable (N/A)” response. Please click the one response that applies to your country’s current practices.

Other questions provide a checklist of possible options. Please check all boxes for which your response is “Yes”

Most questions also give you the option of adding a comment if you wish. To enter a comment, please click “Add Comment” beneath the question.

The questions also provide references to the relevant paragraph numbers from IMTS 2010 and/or the Compilers Manual to IMTS, Rev.1. These references are available by hovering your mouse over the gray “i” icon at the end of the question.

When your office is ready to submit the final responses to the TFITS, please click on the green “Submit” button in the upper right corner of the screen. Please take the time to review each question so that your country’s compilation and dissemination practices will be correctly reflected on the UN website. Please note that once you have clicked the “Submit” button, you will be asked to verify that you have reviewed each question.

Further note that when you click on the “Submit” button, you will receive a warning if any questions have been left blank. Please note that any questions left blank will be treated as a “No” response, so please respond to each question so that your country’s compilation and dissemination practices will be correctly reflected on the UN website.

Thank you for your time in completing this survey. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Please contact us at comtrade@un.org if you have any questions.
